Leadership Notes

  1. What a busy and exciting few weeks it has been, as we move into fall. There are always so many excellent efforts and things to celebrate in OSU Extension.

College Connections

  1. EPN is excited to host an event for our community of environmental and natural resource professionals on Growing the Future of Agriculture: Conversations with Black Farmers and Educators at Ohio State on Oct. 12.

Campus Connections/Partnerships

  1. The SI is launching its inaugural cohort of exploratory research groups (ERGs) – each led by an Ohio State faculty member or seasoned researcher

  2. in the Ohio State maple team at the sugarbush on the Mansfield campus on Oct. 9.

Community Connections

  1. Join more than 300,000 Ohio youth and adults, and crunch into local apples at noon on Thursday, Oct. 14 at schools, early care sites, colleges, and hospitals across Ohio.

Programming Perspectives

  1. OSU Extension is celebrating “Urban October,” a worldwide campaign that the United Nations launched to focus on the opportunities and challenges created by the fast rate of change in cities.

Award Opportunities/Reminders

  1. The Charles W. Lifer Excellence in 4-H Award is presented each year at the OSU Extension annual conference to a 4-H educator who has demonstrated exceptional achievement.

  2. Consider nominating one or more of your deserving CD colleagues for the 2021 Raymond A. Schindler Excellence in Community Development Extension Award.

  3. The unique connection a county agent has with the farm family and agricultural and natural resources community is the driving concept behind the Steve D. Ruhl County Agriculture Agent Award.

  4. This award recognizes an FCS-focused program employee for significant programmatic strengths, major contributions, and innovative approaches achieved over the course of his or her Extension career.

Operations/Business of Extension

  1. CART is the new OSU Extension Choose And RequesT (CART) electronic evaluation system, which enables you to collect basic program evaluation data as well as EEET and REG data – all rolled into one easy

  2. The college web team launched an update across all of our CFAES websites earlier this week, which touched all of the college’s 300+ websites and modified more than 30 individual modules.

Professional Development Opportunities

  1. Consider attending the next ACEL to Extension session on Emotional Intelligence, taught by Jeff King on Oct. 7.
