Leadership Notes

  1. As we approach the fall and look toward what our lives and work will look like over the next few months, I know there are many questions and challenges we have yet to figure out.

COVID-19 Updates

  1. All CFAES educational outreach activities and events using in-person programming and hosted by anyone in CFAES, regardless of the location, must be approved through this process before proceeding.  

  2. The OSU Extension Return to Office Readiness Survey statewide qualitative responses to open-ended questions are now available.

Community Connections

  1. For the first time in its nearly 60-year history, The Ohio State University’s Farm Science Review, scheduled for Sept. 22-24, will not be held in-person.

Programming Perspectives

  1. Adventure Central was showcased in a video via OSU Extension’s social media yesterday.

  2. OSU Extension professionals haven’t let the pandemic slow them down in terms of providing useful, research-based content to Ohioans.

  3. Recently, I had a chance to brag some more on the various achievements of our OSU Extension professionals’ work during COVID-19.

Tech Updates

  1. As we shared previously, starting Friday, Aug. 21, all university employees will use BuckeyePass for Office 365 applications.

  2. Moving to virtual environments for programing has increased the need for specialized software and subscriptions.

  3. Scan pdfs from iPhones (Androids: Adobe Scan app is approved for use by OCIO) by using this app.

Operations/Business of Extension

  1. As President Drake indicated in his message on June 2, the university will continue to honor the commitment to implement the new $15 minimum wage for employees. Pay for eligible employees across all units, including Wexner Medical Center, will increase to meet the new minimum wage starting Aug. 

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

  1. We affirm our conviction that racism and inequality have no place in CFAES. Our CFAES Principles of Community serve as a base for managing these actions.

  2. Join new Assistant Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University, Dr. Patrice Dickerson to discuss current events, the Black Lives Matter leadership model, and engagement within the movement.
