Note from David Civittolo

I hope this finds you all staying safe and warm—especially in your work and travels—during the intense winter weather.

We are always thinking about how we communicate both internally and externally. One area we’ve been focusing on recently is what we’ve historically called County Highlights. As we reviewed last year’s submissions, it became clear that the term didn’t fully capture the impact and energy reflected in your work. I asked our Extension communications team to rethink how we frame this effort. From that conversation, Extension in Action emerged.

As we explored this concept more, we realized thatExtension in Action isn’t just a new name for one project—it’s a lens through which nearly all our outreach and engagement can be viewed. Whether we’re sharing Celebrating Colleagues messages, reporting impacts, or telling the stories of our programs, each example demonstrates how Extension shows up in communities throughout the state.

I encourage you to reflect on your own work and consider how it represents Extension in action. When we collectively highlight the ways we are actively engaging, supporting, and leading in our communities, we build momentum that strengthens our mission and increases our impact.

Thank you for the work you do and for the energy and expertise you bring to our statewide team every day.

Hope you all have a good weekend, David

p.s. Area leaders received information earlier this week about Extension in Action reports (previously County Highlights). They are working to identify points of contact in each county, and we will send more details to these team members soon.
