Note from David Civittolo

The upcoming growing season marks the 10-year anniversary of the eFields program. Applied research initiatives like it are critical in advancing the mission of land-grant universities and our work as Extension professionals.

We were founded on the principles of practical research and innovation that benefit academic growth and the livelihood of communities, industries, and the public.

By turning farms and fields into real-life learning labs through the eFields program, Extension has built an exchange of knowledge that directly benefits local agricultural producers. The results empower producers to make informed decisions, improve productivity, and enhance sustainability on their farms.

Another aspect of applied research like the eFields program is the rapport it builds between agricultural producers and Extension faculty and staff. These relationships are built on mutual interest and curiosity that turns into long-term trust and respect.

Thank you to everyone who participates in and provides leadership to applied research efforts, and especially to the eFields program, as we celebrate this important milestone anniversary.

Kindly, David
